Homebond

HomeBond is the national organisation which since 1978 has been dedicated to providing Home Buyers with peace of mind on a number of key aspects of purchasing a new home - including deposits, stage payments and structural warranties. To date in excess of 500,000 homes have been registered with HomeBond.

For Home Buyers the purchase of a new home is probably the biggest investment they are ever likely to make. It is vital therefore that this asset is protected. When a Home Buyer purchases a HomeBond registered home they have the security of our warranty in relation to deposits, stage payments and structural issues. (www.homebond.ie/homebuyers.html)

For the Home Builder HomeBond provides a world leading warranty management service which allows them to provide their customers with a warranty on their new home. HomeBond is dedicated to developing standards of construction, inspecting dwellings and giving advice to builders on all aspects of construction. (www.homebond.ie/homebuilders.html)

Social and affordable housing

Part V of the Planning & Development Act 2000 makes it a legal requirement for a local authority to prepare a housing strategy, which will cover the period of its development plan.
A Housing Strategy must address the housing needs of all sectors of the existing and future population in the area of the development plan including first time buyers, the elderly, people with disabilities, students, etc. The strategy provides that generally there will be a net countywide requirement that 15% of units in new residential developments be social/affordable units, having regard to the existing concentrations of social/affordable housing.
Each Local Authority has specific objectives and requirements set out in their Development Plan to address Part V housing requirements. Please refer to the relevant Local Authority¹s website for further information
